The Epsilon Chapter of Beta Phi Mu held its 2012 annual meeting on May 1 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Durham. Sixteen new members were inducted and the Achievement Award was awarded to Carolyn Hank. SILS faculty liaison Brian Sturm gave a tribute to the late (and dearly missed) Deborah Barreau. Our guest speaker was Gina Powell, Outreach and Volunteer Services Librarian at the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Guest speaker

Special thanks to our guest speaker, Gina Powell, Outreach and Volunteer Services Librarian at the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NCLBPH). Gina gave a fascinating talk about library services to the blind and how they’ve evolved with advances in technology.
